Multi-Ethnic Grant Program to empower communities

The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry Hon. Charan Jeath Singh today provided an important update on the Multi-Ethnic Grant Program during a press conference, emphasizing the government’s commitment to empowering diverse communities.

While addressing the media, Minister Singh highlighted the importance of the program, and its impact on the communities, and reiterated Ministry’s objective to create stronger, and more interconnected communities.

“The purpose of the program is to strengthen community-based organizations (CBOs) in promoting social cohesion through cultural celebrations and activities. These CBOs assist in preserving cultural diversity while fostering mutual understanding and respect within communities,” he said.

“The Multi-Ethnic Grant Program is designed to support a variety of projects aimed at addressing community needs, ensuring the sustainability of cultural heritage, and reinforcing social unity. Funding support per project varies, with a maximum cap of $15,000, ensuring that even the smallest community organizations have the necessary resources to create a meaningful impact,” said Minister Singh.

Following a thorough verification process, the Ministry has finalized the applications and is set to commence the disbursement of grants to successful applicants. Further details regarding the specific nature of assistance will be provided in due course.
