Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs Addresses Fire Incident at Muaniweni Crematorium

The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry Hon. Charan Jeath Singh is aware of the recent fire incident at the Muaniweni Crematorium in Naitasiri. This is an important facility for the final respect for loved ones.

Minister Hon. Singh said it is a Heartbreaking incident that not only includes infrastructure loss but attach emotions as this will affect the final ritual ceremony.

He reiterated, that the Ministry, through the Director of Multi-Ethnic Affairs, will carry out its assessment soon and will provide an inspection report to examine the extent of the damages and determine the necessary steps for rebuilding the crematorium site.

“I have been told that it is the only crematorium site in the Naitasiri, and serves a large number of people to perform the final rituals for their loved ones,” he said

“The loss is a devastating incident to the community, as it holds significant cultural and emotional importance. I hope that this essential facility is restored in a timely manner, and we look forward to work closely with the community,” He said.

Minister Singh said the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs is exploring the possibility of assisting through its grant program that aims to preserve, retain, and maintain such structures that serve a large number of people in the community.
