The USA Distillers was pleased to host the visit of Minister for Sugar Industry, Hon. Charan Jeath Singh, at its factory complex and mill for discussions on diversification.
The USA Distillers is a private owned company that was founded in 1996 with the goal of providing African and European markets with beverage, food, and pharmaceutical grade alcohol of incredible purity and quality. Its production capacity began in 1999, with high standard of quality, to meet the increasing demand for volumes of alcohol in the global market. The Company’s Operation Director, Johan Smit, briefed Minister Charan that the USA Distillers has undergone phenomenal growth and many changes and its core philosophy has been dedication to Excellence, Quality, and Consistency.
Minister Singh was very impressed with the set-up of the modern plant and proposed a Memorandum of agreement between FSC and USA Distillers as per FSC’s strategic plans to diverse into ethanol production and sugar refinery. The challenge though is to increase farm productivity and reduce cost of production in Fiji.
The Company further explained to the Minister and his delegation on the need for continuous technical upgrades to increase production volumes to reduce relative energy and water consumption through efficiency-based projects. The discussions were useful given the proven success of the sugar industry and the stakeholder companies in Mauritius, providing many opportunities for collaboration and investments.
Our vision is to create a modern, economically viable and sustainable sugar industry in Fiji.
To ensure the successful implementation of sugar cane reforms and ensure timely, effective and efficient delivery of services to relevant stakeholders for a viable sugarcane industry.
