Greetings
I would like to wish a very happy Diwali to you all and also like to take a moment to remember those who may not be celebrating this joyful festival due to some reason.
This is the time of the new moon. On the darkest day of the month, Diwali carries a powerful message. This conveys how light dispels darkness.
Diwali is about enlightenment, portraying a powerful message of peace, love, and humanity. It brings people of all faiths, religions, and cultures together and gives an opportune opportunity to seek a greater understanding of all diverse cultures.
Diwali is a special event in the Hindu calendar that is celebrated all over the world by different ethnic groups. In Fiji, it has always been something special as this signifies culture and social cohesion where all ethnic communities come together to share love, happiness, and togetherness and build confidence amongst our community.
I am intensely aware that at this time in the Hindu calendar, you will be preparing for one of the most important festivals of the year. You would have arranged to get together with your families, cleaned your homes, and planned for the preparation of special meals and sweets.
In this festive season, may the light of Diwali inspire us all to continue this journey of selfless service and unity. Let us come together to uplift our communities, extend compassion to those in need, and celebrate the diversity that enriches our beautiful Fiji.
I would also like to wish you every success in the New Year as Diwali also marks the start of the New Year in the Hindu calendar.
Happy Diwali, and may you have a prosperous New Year.
