Mr. Irami Lewaravu, Principal Economic Planning Officer of Ministry of Sugar Industry, on 5th and 6th of September, 2022 conducted awareness on 2022-2023 capital programs with Fiji Sugar Corporation farm advisors and field officers of different sectors. The six programs for which Government will subsidize and provide grants include; Fertilizer Subsidy Program, Weedicide Subsidy Program, Sugarcane Development and Farmers Assistance Program, Cane Cartage Program, Cane Access Road Program and Sugar Stabilization Program.
Through the awareness, the officers were informed of policies of the programs, importance of monitoring, implementation timelines, expected outcomes, reporting requirements, responsibilities of each sugar institution among other information shared. Farmers can visit respective sector offices to find out more on the programs while officers will also disseminate information to growers in coming days.
