As we come together to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami from today 20th till 26th of August, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Hindus in Fiji and around the world. The month itself has been blessed for the Hindus as the month of โShravanโ, and also marks the divine birth of Lord Krishna.
During these seven nights, the Hindus will gather at temples and places of worship for a prayer session and share the timeless teachings of Lord Krishna, as well as engage in kirtan, bhajan and dance. On this auspicious occasion, let us not forget to talk and address the pressing issues our people are facing in the communities. One such challenge is the alarming rise in drug abuse, which has been a significant concern in our society.
I urge all the Mandalis and the leaders to use this occasion as a platform to educate and enlighten our youths and communities about the dangers of drug use and the importance of leading a healthy drug-free life. The moral values and teachings of Lord Krishna provides a strong foundation for resilience and wisdom. By integrating these lessons into our discussions and activities, we can inspire positive change, foster a safer and more supportive community.
May this Janmashtami bring peace, joy, and enlightenment to you all. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and meaningful Krishna Janmashtami.
