The Airando Fiji Restaurant & Café in Okinawa marked its sixth anniversary on Sunday (8/12/24), celebrating six years of success in bringing the flavors and culture of Fiji to Japan.
The event was graced by the chief guest, the Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Sugar Industry, Hon. Charan Jeath Singh, who emphasized strengthening the cultural bond between Fiji and Japan.
Minister Singh highlighted the deep-rooted and enduring relationship between the two nations, built on mutual respect, shared values, and collaboration in areas such as trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. He also acknowledged the significant role of Fiji’s vibrant culture, traditions, and the famous “Bula smile” in leaving a lasting impression on the Japanese people.
The Airando Fiji Restaurant & Café serves a range of delicious Fijian, Indo-Fijian, and Chinese dishes, including popular items like kokoda, lovo, and other specialties that reflect Fiji’s multicultural society. The restaurant not only offers a taste of Fiji but also serves as a symbol of cultural exchange, fostering greater understanding and appreciation between the people of Fiji and Japan.
The minister also took a moment to recognize Mr. and Mrs. Edwin, the founders of the Airando Fiji Restaurant & Café, for their vision and dedication in sharing Fijian cuisine with the people of Okinawa and Japan.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin are investing their income back in Fiji to develop Fiji’s communities.
The celebration was attended by prominent figures including business owners and civil servants of Japan Government in Okinawa.
